951,315. Boring-bars. MADISON INDUSTRIES Inc. Sept. 10, 1962, No. 34544/62. Heading B3C. [Also in Division F2] A cutter assembly for a boring-bar &c. coprises a pair of cutters 14, 15 held together by a screw 44 engaging the threaded bore of a post 28, a slot 25 in the blade 14, the counterbored ledge of which is engaged by the head of the post 28, a similar slot in the blade 15, the ledge of which is engaged by a plate 42 having an aperture at one end for the screw 44 and which plate may be turned through 180 degrees and repositioned on the ledge to extend the range of adjustment, and a screw 32 passing through a threaded bore in the post 28 to bear against the end of the slot 25 to effect adjustment before screw 44 is tightened. A longitudinal slot in the blade 15, Fig. 2 (not shown), is engaged by a rib on the blade 14, which may also have projecting tongues (not shown) to reduce friction between the blades. The tip of screw 44 may have on it resilient material for locking the screw against screw 32.
