[Also in Division F2] A metal seat-carrying member is retained in the opening of a container of pressurized fluid by a spun peripheral flange 10, the member continuing in a depending portion 11 leading to a re-entrant part 12 which terminates in a central orifice 13 that supports an annular seat 14 of resilient material e.g. silicon rubber. A flexible metallic strip 15 with a dome 17 is diametrically disposed across the part 12 and is located in a groove in the latter; the dome 17 seats on an annular edge of the seat 14 due to the resiliency of the strip 15 and the pressure of the fluid in the container. The strip 15 may be plain or embody two parallel corrugations 26. The dome 17 is unseated by an actuator of moulded plastic material having a cylindrical stem 20 incorporating a finger part 21, an outlet nozzle 24 with a cruciform opening, and a depending projection 22 that passes through the orifice 13 and abuts the dome 17. The actuator has two internal lugs 23 that engage recesses in the metal member, which arrangement both locates the actuator in the latter and provides a fulcrum about which the actuator pivots when the finger part 21 is depressed to open the valve; the lower edge of the actuator is inclined. The actuator is formed with a tongue 25 which prevents accidental operation of the valve during transit; before use the tongue is broken off. The actuator is readily removable to permit of sterilizing the valve and container.
