Abstract

950,337. Switching systems for inductive loads. INTERNATIONAL COMPUTERS & TABULATORS Ltd. May 21, 1962 [June 15, 1961], No. 21627/61. Heading H2H. In a switching circuit having at least two inductive loads, such as clutches or relays, energized sequentially, the energy stored in an energized load L1 is transferred on de-energization to the next energized load L2 through a capacitor C which is charged through a diode D3 when the circuit to L1 is broken and reverse biases another diode D2. The voltage across C is added to the supply voltage to give rapid energization of the load L2, which may be a dummy. When C has discharged, the diode D2 is unblocked and passes a normal holding current to L2.
