Abstract

950,190. Shoe fastenings. W. KUNZLI. April 28, 1960 [Oct. 19, 1959], No. 14872/60. Heading A3B. A lace fastening for sports shoes includes, at each side of the fastening, a plurality of flexible straps 3 spaced lengthwise of the shoe, with each strap extending transversely of the shoe and, except for a fore end, sewn to the upper over substantially the whole of its length, the free ends being separate from one another and provided with means 4 to receive the lace 1 independently of one another and of the upper. The other ends of the straps extend with the upper between the inner and outer soles. One or more further straps 3 may be sewn to the upper. The straps may be formed with loops 4, or fitted with eyelets, hooks, or round or triangular rings. The straps are flexible and may be extensible or non-elastic. They may be formed of leather, synthetic plastic such as nylon, metal, textile material, or rubber. The straps may be sewn to the outside, as shown, or the inside of the upper.
