Abstract
950,182. Protective arrangements. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. June 9, 1960 [June 11, 1959], No. 20034/59. Heading H2K. [Also in Division H3] In a time-overcurrent relay circuit, a signal representative of the overcurrent is applied through a time delay network R1C to a transistor having a Zener diode D in its emitter circuit so that if the signal exceeds the breakdown voltage of the diode for more than a predetermined time the transistor conducts. The resulting voltage at the junction of collector load resistors R2 and R3 causes a transistor T2 of a trigger circuit T2, T3 to become conductive and so operate a relay A. Transistor T1 is of silicon type to make the circuit less sensitive to temperature variations.
