948,815. Folding chairs. J. K. DOUGLAS. Aug. 9, 1960 [June 4, 1959], No. 19068/59. Heading A4J. A folding chair with a rectangular seat frame 1 and a similar back frame 2 pivotally c o nnected at 3 has spacing blocks 4 on the pivots, a stay 5 is pivoted to each side of the seat frame and in the space between it and the back frame an apertured latch 6 is pivoted to the top end of each stay 5 and is offset therefrom to receive the adjacent side of back frame 2, downward stress on the seat frame causing the latch to rotate and the edge of its aperture to bind on the upper and lower faces of the side of the back frame. The back frame is also notched. In modifications the back frame is grooved or rebated and has studs at intervals.
