948,665. Laminates. HARVARD COATED PRODUCTS CO. Ltd. June 20, 1961 [Jan. 12, 1961], No. 22344/61. Heading B5N. [Also in Division B2] A shoe-lining material comprises a foundation ply 1, e.g. of double-napped flannel, impregnated with a thermoplastic stiffening compound such as polyvinyl acetate emulsion, a coating 17 of polyvinyl acetate, a coating 11 of rubber or like latex, and a top layer 13 of flocked fabric made for example by adhering short staple fibres (# inch or less) as a pile to a fabric material. A pressure-sensitive adhesive coating 25 may be applied to the underside of the ply 1. The material may be made by separately impregnating a web of foundation material with stiffening compound, and coating the unflocked side of a web of flocked fabric with rubber latex, drying and rolling up the webs, and subsequently coating the second web with polyvinyl acetate, applying the first (foundation ply) web, pressing between rollers and drying as by infra red heating.
