Abstract

1334055 Laminates STORK AMSTERDAM NV 28 Oct 1970 51212/70 Heading B5N A laminate comprising a bonded fleece and a foil e.g. of polyvinylchloride is made by applying the fleece to the foil in a non bonded condition and then applying a bonding agent in a discontinuous pattern in order to bond the fleece. In an embodiment the fleece 4 is contacted with the foil 2 and passed by a screen cylinder 7 which applies a bonding agent in a pattern in such a way that only part of said bonding agent penetrates as far as the foil. For very thin fleeces the foil 2 may be passed past a screen cylinder 1 to apply a pattern of the bonding agent in amounts sufficient to penetrate to the fleece. If the fleece is thicker the bonding agent may be applied by both screen cylinders 1 and 7. In another embodiment the fleece 4 is applied to the foil which is in a not yet dried gelled or polymerized form on a temporary supporting belt 14. A binding agent may be applied to the uncovered 'face of the fleece. Coloured polyvinylchloride plastisol may be applied by means of screen roller 16 in a pattern on to the temporary support 14 and a coating of a plastics material to may be applied by means of a plain mesh stencil 17. The bonded laminate is dried in an oven 10.
