Abstract
948,562. Air-cooled heat exchangers. HAPPEL G.m.b.H., [trading as GEA LUFTKUHLER - GESELLSCHAFT HAPPEL G.m.b.H. KOMM. GES.]. July 30, 1962 [July 29, 1961], No. 29175/62. Heading F4S. In an air cooled heat exchanger or condenser at least one exchanger element 4 comprising a number of preferably ribbed tubes is arranged in an inclined plane and a fan is positioned below it to blow cooling air upwards over it, and a louvre 6 is arranged on the air discharge side of the element at an angle less than 90 degrees to the plane of the element wherein the blades of the louvre have a generally upward slope in cross-section. As shown, the heat exchanger comprises a plurality of elements 4 arranged in gable fashion over whose surfaces cooling air is blown from a fan (not shown). Louvres 6 extend over the greater part of the vertical height of the elements and may extend over the whole height. The louvres are pivotally mounted at their bottom edges and are held vertical, but may be held in any plane which approximately intersects the bottom edge of each adjacent heat exchange element. The slope of the louvre blades is adjustable. Protective screens are provided at those sides of the heat exchanger not fitted with louvres.
