Abstract

948,532. Counters; electric selective signalling. MARCONI CO. Ltd. June 6, 1962 [ Sept. 28,1961], No. 34974/61. Headings G4D and G4H. A step-bystep motor, used particularly for counting positively or negatively according to which terminal is energized by input impulses, is controlled by logic circuits to energize appropriate combinations of windings in response to successive impulses. In Fig. 1 only one of the units M1-M3 is cut off at any moment so that the related transistor T1-T3 and motor winding W1-W3 is deenergized. Each unit M is controlled by a corresponding OR gate OM which cut off M when either of the associated AND gates such as 1 AMI, 2 AMI has an output. Each AND gate has three inputs one from the add or the subtract input 1 or 2, as the case may be, the second from the associated M unit and the third from the next or the preceding M unit, according to whether addition or subtraction is being effected. Delay circuits are included. In a modification (Fig. 3, not shown) either one or two windings may be energized so that the motor steps through an angle of 60 degrees at each input impulse.
