Abstract
948,154. Hydraulic pit props. HERBERT COTTERILL Ltd. July 1, 1960 [July 9, 1959; Dec. 18, 1959], Nos. 23579/59 and 43191/59. Heading E1E. A base for hydraulic props comprises a skid 2, see Fig. 3 of the first Provisional Specification, having two upstanding walls 3 which are interconnected by spacers 12, 13 and have angled plates 11 secured thereto so as to define prop compartments having vertical access gaps 4. The device is provided with suitable cover plates, see Figs. I and 2 of the first Provisional Specification (not shown). In a modification, see Fig. 1 of the second Provisional Specification, the upper edges of the plates 3, 11 are provided with fillets having bolt holes for the reception of the cover plates 17, a guard plate 16 and valve supporting plates 18, 19, 27 being also provided. In a final modification, see the drawings accompanying the complete Specification (not shown), the four props support a canopy whilst resilient inserts and retaining rings are disposed between the covers and retaining plates bolted thereto. An advancing ram is also provided.
