Abstract

Apparatus for cleansing small mechanical components 18 comprises holding the components in a basket 43 immersed in a container 1 having cleansing or rinsing liquid therein; the basket being rotated by a motor, and the container having inlet and outlet openings 11, 12 arranged so that the immersed rotatable basket forms a pump with said openings; the inlet 11 and outlet 12 openings being interconnected <PICT:0947466/C3/1> for effecting a circulation of the cleansing or rinsing liquids and the rotating basket functioning as a pump-rotor, with the assistance of radial vane paddles 45. For cleansing solutions a coarse filter (not shown) can be inserted in the conduit connecting the inlet and outlet conduits 14 and 5. For rinsing solutions a fine filter cartridge 7 can be inserted in the filter vessel 6 through which the solution is continuously circulated. The basket 43 has wire mesh sides with a cover plate 42 and central hole 44 in the base 41. The apparatus may be provided with a plate 15 or a stator (not shown) to promote the pump action.
