Abstract

947,256. Producing tetrahedron-shaped packages. HERMORION Ltd. April 9, 1962 [April 10, 1961], No. 13616/62. Heading B8C. Tetrahydron-shaped packages formed from a tube 4 of packaging material are prevented from creasing, while the transverse welds are being made, by gas pressure maintained in the interior of the tube. In the form illustrated material is fed into the tube by a spout 9, as described in Specification 946,040, and air delivered from an annulus 18 surrounding the spout 9 is prevented from escaping from the tube by a collar 20 leaving only a small gap from the wall of the tube. The air may be sterilised. The transverse welds are effected by pairs of jaws 6, 7 reciprocated vertically to feed the tube 4. The tube is formed from a folded web 1 by a ring 3 and longitudinal welding web 5. The material may be fed in by a stream of air.
