Abstract

946,685. Wind motors. F. RUSCONI. April 29, 1960 [May 5, 1959], No. 15130/60. Heading FIT. In a wind motor having oppositely directed concave blades 21, 22, located in a rotor having a vertical axis, each blade is pivoted at its radially outer leading edge on a vertical pivot shaft 23 or 24 to permit variation in the angle of incidence of an applied wind, and the blades are coupled to the drive shaft 16 of the rotor by a system of levers 29, 30, 33 and pre-loaded resilient means 34 to permit movement of the blades relative to the rotor to decrease the angle of incidence as the wind force increases. The rotor comprises lower and upper discs 18, 19 joined by struts 20 and is supported for rotation on the shaft 16 within a stator cage comprising lower and upper frames 12, 13 coupled by uprights 14. The radially inner edges 27, 28 of the blades carry pins sliding in arcuate slots 25, 26 and are coupled by the respective connecting rods 29, 30 to two-armed levers 33 rotatable on the shaft 16 but coupled thereto by the helical springs 34. The stator cage is supported on a lattice work mast 11 or other support by leaf springs 15.
