Abstract

1,3,3-Trichloroprop-1-ene is continuously prepared by reacting allyl chloride with chlorine at 400-550 DEG C. in a single reaction stage in the presence of recycled less highly chlorinated products, the reagents being mixed at great speed and the products quickly cooled, preferably to below 150 DEG C. The allyl chloride and recycled products are preferably preheated to 300-450 DEG C. before admixing with the chlorine.
