A glazed unit e.g. for a translucent pavement or roof light comprises a frame 1 in which are securely mounted in sealing tight manner as by sealing strips 9 one or more double glazed translucent glazing units each of which consists of an upper pane 3 and a lower pane 4, preferably of wire-reinforced glass, connected together by glued-in reinforcing bars 5 e.g. also of wire-reinforced glass. The upper pane 3 is larger than the pane 4 and the panes sit on stepped bearing surfaces 7, 8 around their peripheral portions on the sealing strips 9.
