945,728. Dock gates. DRYSDALE & CO. Ltd. June 22, 1962, No. 24027/62. Heading E1H. A dock gate of the type mounted for swinging movement about a vertical axis incorporates a plurality of nozzles or slots located in the bottom edges of the gate and directed outwardly and downwardly from the gate, and means for feeding water under pressure to the nozzles or slots. In Fig. 1 the gate 1 has located within its structure a pump 4 in a trunk 5 leading from the inner face of the gate and discharging into a duct 2 which presents nozzles 3 to clear debris from the path of the gate as it is swung open. The water for the nozzles may be bled from pumps used for dewatering the dock or hydraulic thrustors. Specification 738,435 is referred to.
