945,669. Locking nuts and bolts. SCREW & BOLT CORPORATION OF AMERICA. Oct. 8, 1962, No. 37971/62. Heading F2H. A screw - threaded member, male or female has a side portion of its threaded surface coated with a compound 12 such as an epoxy resin (or crude rubber in benzol) and another side portion of the threaded surface coated with a hardening agent 13 such as a polyamide resin (or a mixture of sulphur and a catalyst or accelerator, such as diphenylguanidine), so that when the member is rotated in threaded engagement with its mating member, the coating materials 12, 13 are mixed to form an adhesive polymer and the members are locked. The materials may be applied as two stripes applied simultaneously on opposite sides of the threaded surface by extrusion. A strippable protective coating, e.g. of vinyl or rubber, may then be applied by dipping, to protect the compounds 12, 13 before the member is used. The compounds, before mating the members, fill the thread to a depth greater than the clearance between the mated threads.
