Abstract
A thermoplastic composition comprises 0.5 to 10 parts by weight of white mineral oil and 99.5 to 90 parts by weight of a high density polyethylene prepared with a catalyst comprising an organo-sodium compound and a compound of a transition metal of Group III to VI of the Periodic Table and preferably having a melt flow index greater than 10. The white mineral oil consists of saturated aliphatic hydrocarbons and may be further characterized by a Saybolt viscosity between 70 and 515 SSU at 100 DEG F. and by a pour point of 40 DEG F. or below. The compositions find application as insulation for electric cables. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 881,507.
