A chimney mounted smoke-extracting device comprises two frusta interspaced with baffle plates defining upwardly convergent air channels characterized in that the air channels do not enter the flue. The frusta 1 and 3 are concentrically positioned and define together with the vertical equally-spaced baffle plates 2 upwardly convergent air channels. The top edges of both the frusta and the baffle plates lie in a horizontal plane. The device is fixed to an existing chimney by means of a cylinder 6 or it may be incorporated in the manufacture of a chimney.
