Abstract

944,541. Automatic alarm systems. COVENTRY & JEFFS Ltd. April 26,1962, No. 15858/62. Heading G4N. [Also in Division F1] In an electrical installation a vehicle immobilization circuit is completed on closing the ignition switch 3 except when a secret switch 4 is previously closed to energize a relay R2 which functions to break the immobilization circuit. When ignition switch 3 is open the contacts C2, C1, are in the position shown in which the vehicle contact breaker 6 is shorted to earth through contact C1 and also current is fed through contact C2 to the vehicle horn 9 or an alarm. To start the engine the spring- loaded switch 4 is held closed and the ignition switch 3 is then closed causing relay R2 to be energized thus breaking the alarm and immobilization circuits and also providing a holding circuit for relay R2 which remains energized until the vehicle ignition is switched off. In order to render the installation inoperative relay R2 constitutes a unit of a multi-contact plug and socket assembly of which the plug can be removed to enable the vehicle to be used in a normal manner.
