Abstract

944,340. Atomizing liquid fuel. ESSO RESEARCH & ENGINEERING CO. June 22, 1962 [July 28, 1961], No. 27444/61. Heading F4T. [Also in Division B2] Apparatus for atomizing liquid fuel comprises a tip 6 made of porous sintered material closing a liquid fuel channel 4 in a stub 1 and vibrating at sonic or ultrasonic frequency. A recess 5 is formed at the back of the tip 6. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), the tip is detachably secured to the stub and the sides of the tip are sealed by solder. The tip is vibrated by a valve oscillator (not described) or by a circuit employing a PNPN diode of the type described in Specification 924,860.
