Abstract

943,863. Visors. M. D. S. LUX. June 18, 1962 [Aug. 24, 1961], No. 30597/61 Heading A3V. [Also in Division G2] A visor adapted to be used with a domed plain surfaced or marginally ribbed crash helmet or round the head comprises a face shield 10 Fig. 1 of acrylic plastic pivotally mounted by a screw 18 and lock nut 19 at opposite ends of an arcuate brow bar 12 of double channel cross-section having attached through apertures 23 an elastic head strap 13 Fig. 2. Channel 15 accommodates a rubber strip 16 of slightly shorter length than the brow bar constituting a friction pad which engages the helmet or head when the head strap 13 is tightened. Channel 17 constitutes a recess which engages any marginal ribs provided on the helmet. The lower channel of the brow bar may be replaced by rib engaging clips and the visor may be provided with an antiglare portion. The rubber strip may be replaced by a plurality of rubber bands mounted on spaced brackets along the length of the brow bar.
