Abstract

The chin strap (5) is for a crash helmet (1) which has an internal layer of shock absorbing material (2). The strap is in two parts and one extremity is joined to the shell of the helmet. The other extremity (6) is joined to the supple lateral bands of a sliding clasp fastener(8). The front part of this is joined to the part of the helmet (10) that protects the user's chin. Opposite the user's ears there are cavities (3) in the shock absorbing material in which a screw or hock to adjust the length of the strap can be fitted.
