A chair has a back A and seat B provided with a series of parallel slats 10, 21 of T-form cross-section which adjacent their ends fit by means of side flanges 24 into T-shaped slots in cross-members 11, 12, 13 and 14 formed of rubber or like resilient material which is reinforced by straps 15 of steel. The slats 10 are anatomically shaped with concave and convex portions.
