Abstract

Linear quinacridone in the b -crystal phase is made by converting crude linear quinacridone or linear quinacridone of any crystal phase in an alcohol into an alkali metal salt and hydrolysing the salt dissolved in the alcohol with water or a dilute mineral acid. Alcohols which may be used are ethanol, ethylene glycol and its monomethyl ether and diethylene glycol and its monoethyl ether. Examples are given.
