Abstract

The invention comprises the phenolphthalin salt of 2-dimethylaminoethanol, which may contain water of crystallization or solvent of crystallization, and its preparation by reacting 2-dimethylaminoethanol with phenolphthalin either in water, in which case the product is obtained as a dihydrate, or in an organic solvent such as methanol, ethanol, acetone, ether, benzene or petroleum ether in which case the product may contain the corresponding solvent of crystallization. The salt is used pharmaceutically.
