Abstract

The invention comprises 1-thioureido-2,3,4-triacetyl-D -glucuronic acid methyl ester and 1-thioureido-D -glucuronamide. The first compound is prepared by reacting 1-isothiocyano-2,3,4-triacetyl-D -glucuronic acid methyl ester with ammonia in the presence of a solvent which is able to absorb ammonia, dissolves the starting material at normal temperature and is weak in polarity, e.g. dioxan, benzene or xylene. The second compound is prepared from the first compound by reacting it with ammonia in the presence of a solvent which is strong in polarity, e.g. methanol.
