942,838. Hydraulic transmissions. BERGENS MEKANISKE VERKSTEDER A.S. April 19, 1961 [Nov. 18, 1960], No. 14181/61. Heading F2C. [Also in Division F1] An hydraulic transmission comprises a pump 1 supplying liquid through a reversing valve 2 to a fixed capacity motor 7 which is geared to an output shaft 10 which is also geared to a variable capacity unit 8. The capacity of the unit 8 is continuously variable from a positive maximum to a negative maximum so that the unit either acts as a motor supplied in parallel with the motor 7 to rotate the shaft 10 relatively slowly at high torque or the unit acts as a pump to rotate the shaft 10 faster and at a lower torque. The unit 8 is of the sliding vane type having its capacity varied by displacement of a liner 11 by pistons 12, 13.
