The cutter of the edge-trimmer disclosed in the parent Specification is raised or lowered by means of an elevating rod 18 movably attached to the longer arm of an L-shaped lever 16 to the other arm of which is movably attached a toggle lever 15 extending parallel to the longer arm of the lever and being coupled by link 14 with a journal 12 of the crank 11 supporting the base-plate 5 of the device. The upper end of the rod 18 is threaded into a handle 20 which is located in one of a number of U- shaped brackets carried by bar 21 attached to the machine handles to hold the rod 18 in the required elevated position.
