Abstract

942,450. Semi-conductor devices. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. Sept. 6, 1960 [Sept. 25, 1959], No. 32706/59. Heading H1K. A thermopile is formed by taking a pair of blanks of the form shown in Fig. 1, one of copper and the other of copper nickel alloy, superimposing them with one reversed as shown in Fig. 3, and welding them together at portions 8 and 9. The assembly is then fastened with an adhesive to an anodized aluminium base and the part outside the dotted line (Fig. 3) separated by machining. Terminal portions 8 form the targets or hot junctions and the welded portions the cold junctions. The blanks may be formed by printing on to glass and removing the adhesive. Specification 834,134 is referred to.
