Abstract
Hexamethyleneimine is prepared by passing vapours of di-(o -amino-n-benzyl)-amine or a vapour or gas mixture containing the same over a dehydration catalyst consisting of aluminium silicate or aluminium oxide at a temperature between 250 DEG and 500 DEG C., condensing the gaseous reaction product and separating hexamethyleneimine therefrom by distillation. Hexamethylenediamine is formed as a by-product. Examples are given. Specification 763,666, German Specification 738,448 and U.S.A. Specification 1,926,691 are referred to.
