A liquid column measuring indicator 1 is used in conjunction with a pneumatic measuring valve or gauge head 28 and regulating or throttling means 23, 30, 31, 33, 34 are provided so that both the reference pressure and the back pressure from the gauge 28, which are applied to opposite ends of the liquid column, are reduced. Thus the indicator can be used with high pressure measuring tools.
