Abstract
941,815. Valves. TOUR AGENTURER A.B. Sept. 8, 1961, No. 32294/61. Heading F2V. [Also in Division F4] A shunt valve for water heaters in a central heating system (see Division F4) comprises a connection 22 to a water heater, a connection 23 to a feeder conduit, a connection 24 to a return conduit, and a plate valve 31. The plate valve 31 is keyed to shaft 30 which is supported by one end of a wall 26 which divides the connection 22 into two channels 27, 28. Plate 31 is provided with an arcuate opening 41 such that on turning the plate 31 to one extreme end position, channel 27 and connection 23 communicate with each other and on turning to the opposite extreme end position the return connection 24 and the feeder connection 23 communicate with each other whilst the passage between channel 27 and connection 23 is closed. Shaft 30 is turned by means of handle 39 to which is attached a pointer 40 which can be read against a scale 38 to indicate relative positions of the opening 41. Opening 41 is shown tapered to provide linear shunting characteristics for the valve.
