A mixing valve has a rotatable member 5 with an arcuate slot 12 co-operating with either or both hot and cold water inlets 3, 4 to control the temperature of water flowing to an outlet 23 via ports 10 which co-operate with the slots 16 in an axially slidable sleeve 17 to vary the rate of flow. A control knob 21 moves the sleeve 17 axially and also rotates the member 5 due to the slidable reception of the squared end 14 within the sleeve.
