941,487. Thermoelectric devices. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. Aug. 3, 1961 [Aug. 4, 1960], No. 27056/60. Drawings to Specification. Heading H1K. A method of making a thermopile comprising an assembly of alternate P-type and N-type elements comprises the steps of providing each element with a pair of terminals of low-melting- point metal, such as tin, wrapping or masking each element with insulating material except where electrical connections are required, assembling the elements as desired in a compact array, and heating the terminals so as to fuse together the terminals of adjacent elements where the electrical connections are required. The elements, which are preferably of bismuth telluride, are assembled in a rectangular array and clamped together in a jig, and the terminals on either side of the array are heated in turn while the terminals on the other side are being cooled.
