Abstract
1408365 Fuses OLVIS NV 21 June 1973 [22 June 1972] 29498/73 Heading H2G A fuse comprises a fuse element 2 of, e.g. copper, stretch-mounted in a tubular housing 1 between end caps 4 and sealed by material 5, and having uniformly spaced apart activator beads 3 of, e.g. an alloy of tin and lead. The activator beads 3 may be punched as small discs from a thin strip which may be applied to a thin film substrate. The discs are adhesed to the fuse wire or strip whereafter they are fused together by infra-red radiation. In another embodiment very small activator beads are electroplated to the fuse element using photolithographic techniques. In a further embodiment (Fig. 3, not shown), the fuse element comprises a core (6) of insulating fibre material wound with extremely thin silver wire (2) which carries closely spaced activator beads (3).
