Abstract

941,370. Hypodermic syringes. F. WANTOCH. April 30, 1962 [Jan. 31, 1961], No. 3727/61. Heading A5R. A piston - type hypodermic syringe having a flexible sealing sleeve 4 open at both ends connecting the rear end of the barrel 1 with the piston head 15 or a sleeve open at one end connected to the rear end of the barrel and enclosing the projecting parts of the piston. The sleeve, which is made of rubber or synthetic resin, is secured by adhesive or highfrequency welding in annular recesses 14, 16 of the barrel and piston head, respectively. A double-ended hypodermic needle having a hollow mount 9 of waxed paper or synthetic resin and closed only at the forward end, is mounted on the syringe so that it pierces a rubber selfsealing plug 7 in an axial passage 6 at the forward end of the syringe. The passage 6 may be covered by a latex cap having a thread for removing it. The piston stem 17 may be detached from the piston head so that without the needle the barrel forms a sterile container for fluid to be injected or withdrawn by the syringe.
