Abstract

941,110. Valves. RISDON MANUFACTURING CO. Sept. 19, 1962, No. 35624/62. Heading F2V. [Also in Division F1] An aerosol container 10 is closed by a sealed and crimped cover 16 with a central boss 20 to which is crimped a plastic cup member 22 enbodying a cavity 28 slidably housing the skirt 32 of a plastic valve-closure element 30 that incorporates a hollow stem 34 with a radial port 36 therethrough. In the valve closed position the port 36 is sealed by a gasket 40 of rubber or synthetic elastomeric material clamped under the boss 20 by compression of its outer periphery between an annular rib 42 on the cup member 22 and the boss 20. The shoulder between the stem 34 and skirt 32 also engages the gasket 40 to provide a further seal. The valve is closed by a spring 46, one end of which enters the skirt around a tapering port 48. The closure element 30 is guided for reciprocation by the skirt in the cavity 28 and the stem in boss aperture 21. The cup member 22 has a tail piece 50 engaged by the dip tub 52 whilst the stem 34 leads into a finger button 60 with a spray orifice 62. The bottom of the cup member 22 opens into the tail piece 50 via grooves 23 which both facilitate fluid discharge and pressure filling.
