Abstract
940,799. Threading and tensioning wires for post-tensioned concrete. CABLE COVERS Ltd. March 30, 1961 [April 11, 1960], No. 12878/60 Heading E1V. [Also in Division F2] In order to prevent twisting of a group of reinforcing wires or strands 20 whilst being threaded into a duct 12, the individual wires are passed through spaced guideways in a stationary member 15 at one end of the duct whilst being pulled through the duct by a device 21 to which the wires 20 are secured in spacial relationship one to another corresponding to that of the guideways, the device 21 being connected to a haulage rope 22 and constrained against axial rotation relative to the stationary member 15. The device 21 is constrained against axial rotation by the provision of a weight eccentrically mounted thereon, or by forming the device with at least one rib or with a non circular cross section for engagement respectively with a complementary formation on or of the duct 12. After threading the wires, their leading ends may be passed each through one of a number of apertures on a bearing plate 16 after which the wires are tensioned in a sequence which ensures that a wire being tensioned is not in contact with any other wire. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 906,691.
