Abstract
940,584. Gas turbine plant. M. A. N. TURBOMOTOREN G.m.b.H. May 8, 1961 [May 7, 1960], No. 16639/61. Heading F1G. The air intake of a gas tubine jet propulsion engine comprises an inner core which enlarges towards the compressor of the engine and an outer casing incorporating a number of separate wall parts arranged for independent displacement away from and towards to the casing to provide additional air intake ports which when the intake is subject to transverse incident flow, can be made smaller on the upstream side of the casing than on the downstream side. The intake of a gas turbine jet propulsion engine capable of swivelling comprises a centre body 21 whose angle of taper may be varied by the hydraulic jack 26 and levers 27. The outer wall includes a fixed part 22 and movable lips 231 and 23<SP>11</SP> which may be moved independently by jacks 24. The intake lips may also be pivotable.
