939,981. Mountings for lamps. MASCHINENFABRIK WIESBADEN G.m.b.H. Jan. 18, 1961 [Jan. 19, 1960], No. 1999/61. Class 75 (3). [Also in Group XXX] A telescopic mounting for a projecter lamp e.g. for supporting it from a travelling carriage in a studio, comprises a telescopic tube arrangement having an arm pivotally connected to the lower end for supporting the lamp, flexible draw members extending through the telescopic tube arrangement and connected respectively to this end to the pivoted arm and winch means whereby the lengths of the draw members can be varied. The tube arrangement may be mounted on a travelling carriage so as to be rotatable about its longitudinal axes. In the form shown, the tube arrangement, 1 Fig. 1, is carried by a suspension device 2 from a rail 4, and consists of four telescoped tubes, the innermost tube 6 carrying an arm 7a to which is hinged an arm 7 supporting the lamp 8. Cables S 1 , S 2 , Fig. 3, passing through the tubes are connected respectively to the arms 7 and 7a and to a drum 14 on a winding. The drum engages a screw thread 13 on a shaft 11 so that tension on the cables tends to move the drum to bring a brake lining 16 into contact with a brake disc 15 on the shaft 11, rotation of the disc 15 being prevented by a pawl 18. Rotation of the shaft 11 frees the lining 16 from the disc 15 so that the cables can be removed to lower the lamp. To incline the lamp, the length of the cable S 2 is shortened by rotating a lever carrying a pulley about the shaft 11, the pulley engaging the cable S 2 and drawing it round the drum 14.
