939,665. Electric heating resistances. ISOPAD Ltd., and H. REIK. May 1, 1961 [Feb. 1, 1960], No. 3465/60. Class 39 (3). A heating device, e.g. a heating mantle, includes a magnesium oxide insulated sheathed heating conductor mounted on, or adjacent to, a metal textile material, e.g. woven wire mesh of stainless steel, nickel, or nickel/chromium, which material may be either flexible or substantially rigid and which carries no current but promotes a uniform distribution of temperature. For heating a vessel with a hemispherical bottom, sections 15 of metal textile are stitched together along their edges 16 to form a hemispherical surface around which the heating conductor 7 is wound spirally, being itself surrounded by asbestos lagging 13 held in metal container 14. Further embodiments (Figs. 4 to 6, not shown), include a semi-cylindrical jacket, a plane rectangular panel, and a flexible tape in which the conductor is arranged in a single loop running the length of the tape. A plurality of conductors in series or in parallel may be employed; and individual control of separate heating circuits may be provided. Specification 939,664 is referred to.
