Abstract

939,646. Forage harvesters. FORD MOTOR CO. Sept. 10, 1962 [Sept. 11, 1961], No. 34557/62. Class 6(3). The forage harvester described in Specification 891,442 is adapted for harvesting crops planted in rows and is characterised by guides 11, 12 which comprise arches 39 mounted for bending the crop forwardly before it is cut and crop dividers 42, 44. Shelves 64, 65 also guide the crop to the cutter 17 from which it is moved by auger 25 to an opening 30 with paddle wheel 31 to pass the crop to a chopper. The guides are adjustably mounted on the harvester by upper straps 56 supported in channels 59 which may be adjusted laterally to allow the arches 39 to be spaced to coincide with differing row spacings. Tension springs 62 may be provided between the bracket 59 and strap 56 to counterbalance some of the weight of the guides.
