A carrying cot A has a base B formed in two parts b, b<SP>1</SP> hinged together, with supports d pivoted to one or both parts to allow for the ends of the base to be raised to support a child in a sitting position. The supports d are of wire bent to U-shape and are retained in the raised position by stays d<SP>1</SP> pivoted on a cranked portion d<SP>3</SP> of the support and engaging brackets d<SP>5</SP> on the base. The stays d are bent over to receive a pin d<SP>4</SP> engaging a recess in the bracket d<SP>5</SP>.
