Abstract

938,299. Cigarette-making machines. ZAVODY V. I. LENINA PLZEN, NARODNI PODNIK. June 15, 1961 [June 27, 1960], No. 21603/61. Class 130. A drum 3, on which assemblages of cigarettes and filter tips are rolled by a belt 11 to wrap them in uniting paper strips 7, has transverse grooves 2 the width of which in the direction of rotation is not less than the circumference of the assemblages. The assemblages are transferred from the transporting drum 1 and held on the drum 3 by suction applied through ducts 4. The paper strips 7 are severed, by a cutter drum 9, from a continuous strip 8 previously coated with adhesive by the device 10. The paper strips 7 are attached by their leading edges to the assemblages, and then rolled round them by the belt 11 which travels at a greater speed than the peripheral velocity of the drum 3. Each united assemblage returns from the front edge to the back edge of its transverse groove 2, while travelling between a guide 13 and the drum 3, under the influence of either gravity or friction with guide 3, to correctly position it for transfer to a transporting drum 14.
