Abstract

344,425. Cigarette-making machines. SLOPER, T., Southgate Villa, Devizes, Wiltshire. Dec. 3, 1929, No. 36965. [Class 130.] A flexible travelling tape 11, carrying the paper strip and tobacco, is held in contact with the U- shaped channel 10 by the application of suction or fluid pressure to one side of the tape. As shown, one or more orifices 12 at the bottom of the channel are connected by conduits 13 to a vacuum pump or other suction device. When the channel 10 changes progressively from a shape in which the sides are inclined away from each other to one in which the sides are parallel, the orifice or orifices may be situated between the point at which the sides become parallel and the point where they are most inclined.
