Abstract
936,697. Hook fastenings. PAYTON PEPPER & SONS Ltd. July 23, 1962 [Aug. 26, 1961], No. 30832/61. Class 44. A fastening for a bracelet, necklet, armlet, anklet or similar article of jewellery comprises an extensible link having relatively slidable sections in the form of a loop section b within a rectangular frame section a to the loop section of which a fastening link d engageable with a loop e on the free extremity of the article is pivoted, the fastening link d being pivotally actuated to a position adjacent both sections and having a tooth d<SP>2</SP>, on its extremity removed from its pivot with the loop section, which is capable of a sliding engagement with formations a<SP>3</SP> of the inner faces of the frame section in such a manner that when the loop section is slid in extension of the frame section, the tooth d<SP>2</SP> can be passed between faces of the frame section, and when the extensible link is contracted the tooth slidingly engages said formations to prevent inadvertent displacement of the fastening link. A coil spring (not shown), is trapped between the frame section and the loop section. As shown, the formations are ribs but in a modification the formation can be L-shaped grooves. The coiled spring can be replaced by means providing a click engagement between the sections.
