Abstract
936,389. Conduits. N. W. HUSLER. Jan. 23, 1961 [Oct. 23, 1959], No. 35912/59. Class 36. [Also in Group XXV] A cover 15 is locked to channel-shaped trunking by a turnable locking member 10 secured to a nut 12 which runs on a screw 14 passed through a suitable hole in the cover. A split ring locking nut 13 fastened to the nut 12 ensures that there is sufficient resistance that on initial rotation of the screw the locking member will rotate to its locked position in which its obliquely cut ends fit beneath inturned flanges 111 on the trunking, further rotation of the member being prevented by the contact of its corners with the side walls of the trunking. Further rotation of the screw merely moves the nut along the screw and tightly secures the cover. In a further embodiment, Figs. 4 and 5 (not shown), the locking member projects from only one side of its pivot, a spacing member being placed between the member and its cover to prevent it from tilting when tightened under the trunking flange. While the additional locking nut 13 is not essential its presence is preferable to ensure sufficient resistance to rotate the member to its locked position. In the absence of nut 13 the nut attached to the locking member may be replaced by a tapped hole provided therein. The locking device may also be used to hold covers on other similar enclosures, particularly those for electrical equipment.
