Abstract
Metals, ceramics and wood, e.g. steel sheets, melting pots, zirconium oxide, and electrode bars of titanium and/or zirconium borides, are coated, e.g. by flame-spraying powder, with magnesia containing 1 to 10% silica, not more than 5% of metal oxides other than magnesium, metals or mixtures thereof and not more than 0,5% of other matter, the percentages being by weight. The zirconium compound contains the normal content of the corresponding hafnium compound. Comparisons are made with flame-spraying substantially pure magnesia and magnesia bonded with clay in powder and rod form. Particle sizes are specified. Specification 745,257 is referred to.
